Statement of Faith

LOCAL CHURCH APOLOGETICS

1. THE SCRIPTURES (THE BIBLE) INSPIRED

The Scriptures, that is the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

2. ONE GOD, ETERNALLY EXISTENT IN THREE PERSONS

There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “IAM, the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind.

3. THE DEITY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross as the substitutionary sacrifice for man’s sin, bodily rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of God the Father. He will return in power and glory.

4. THE FALL OF MAN

Man was created good and upright, in the image of God. However, man by voluntary transgression fell and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. The fall of man affected not only man, but all of creation because man had been given dominion over all of God’s creation.

5. THE SALVATION OF MAN

Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God. For a person to be saved from sin they must be born of the Spirit of God which occurs through repentance and faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, His death upon the cross for sin and His bodily resurrection from the dead.

6. THE HOLY SPIRIT

As Jesus promised, the Holy Spirit has come by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. The Holy Spirit brings gifts, wisdom, and knowledge, empowerment to witness, strength and encouragement into the life of the believer in Christ. Apart from the Holy Spirit the natural mind cannot understand the things of God.

7. THE CHURCH AND ITS MISSION

The Church is the Body of Christ on earth and the habitation of God through His Spirit. The church is called to the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the church, and is called to participate in taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost throughout the world.

8. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST

Those who know Christ as their Savior will be caught up together with Him in the clouds, both those who have died in Christ and those believers who are alive at the time of His coming. Jesus will return in great glory and power to destroy the works of the devil and the kingdoms of this world. He will establish His eternal kingdom in righteousness and peace.

9. THE FINAL JUDGMENT

There will be a time of resurrection and a final judgment of both the saved and the lost. Those who by faith in Christ have their names written in the Book of Life will enter into eternal life while those who are lost will be resurrection unto damnation for their unbelief.

10. NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH

The Bible teaches that the current heavens and earth will be destroyed in a coming time of judgment but God will create a new heaven and a new earth in which righteousness will dwell.
